I set a goal and I met it. When I was pregnant with Muse No.2 I told myself by the end of the first quarter of 2019 (end of March), I would like to have my technical packs completed and sent to my factory. For those of you who don’t know a technical (tech) pack is the blueprint of your garment that you share with your manufacturer. It can be as detailed or as brief as you want, but the more relevant information you share with your manufacturer, the closer they can get to producing the final garment you actually want.
As someone with no background/expertise in clothing manufacture to get to this point is a huge achievement. I’ve spent a lot of time reading about tech packs online, making inadequate tech packs and even hiring consultants at various points along the way to ensure I had something that was good enough to share. The ‘v1’ in this post’s title refers to the fact that there may be revisions that need to be made but hopefully this initial version is enough for me to secure key info such as quotes, minimums and lead times from the factory.
I’m really pleased that I hit this milestone given all that’s happened over the past 3 months.

The three colourways you can see here are just a fraction of the trials I’ve completed. I’d never used Adobe Illustrator before I started this journey and initially it was …
One product, many colourways vs. one colourway, many products. This month has been about establishing which 4 or 5 products I’m going to build my first range around. Initially I had the idea of only going with one item and producing it in many different colourways and designs. Since then for a number or reasons, …
