Quick post this week: a brief update on our production process. We officially went into pre-production with our manufacturer a few weeks before Christmas. Pre-production for us means getting updated tech packs and toile patterns made. It also includes samples of our prints (screen printed) and final sample garments.
We go through these stages to mitigate risk and also to make changes. It’s hugely risky to agree (and pay for) inventory without being assured of what the final product will look and feel like.
You may recall that we’d previously made tech packs. We did. These first round tech packs were important to be taken seriously by prospective manufacturers. They also allowed us to get quotes and samples and whittle down prospective manufacturers. However now we’ve honed in on one, we made the joint decision to re-produce the tech packs. This was to avoid confusion over the details of the garments.
Christmas and the New Year slowed things down a little as expected. We’ve now received our updated technical drawings and the other items are beginning to roll in. Make sure to stay up to date with the blog to see when we our first fully printed samples arrive.

If you’ve been following this journey for some time now, you’ve probably realised colour – it’s power and it’s potential – is something I’m very passionate about. I love colour; there is definitely something about it that energises me. However the extent of my experience with colour is probably dressing myself, doing my make up …
